Wangfu Rock (meaning expecting husband), located in Cimei, Penghu, is a giant piece of basalt with a shape similar to a lying woman by the ocean. The legend has it that a woman was waiting her fisherman husband and couldn’t expect his returning so that she waited until the end of her life, fell and became a rock.
Based on the legend, the Japanese composer Kei Misawa composed the piece with vivid experience of island landscape. Through the bright and joyful atmosphere, the music is created with highly romanticized melodies and chords. The optimistic tone of ocean is presented. The structure of the music is divided into Adagio molto sostenuto – Allegro moderato con brio – Andante molto sostenuto – Allegro vivace.
