《包楞調》為山東成武縣民歌，最早來自當地廟會民俗活動中，農村婦女表演時所唱和的曲調，由於歌詞中每句結束，都帶有「緊包楞」的襯詞，在方言中為緊緊相連的意思，因而稱為包楞調 。此曲一度隨著廟會活動的沒落而失傳，在山東耆老周金英的傳唱之下，才得以將這種歌詞典雅、旋律奔放的獨特文化遺產保留下來；此版本由日本作曲家朴守賢改編為靈活編制版本演奏，以五個聲部加上打擊樂器，使各種人數、類型之器樂合奏形式，皆能發揮本作品之最佳演奏效果。

靈活編制版本適用於小型管樂團、銅管五重奏、木管五重奏、薩克斯風重奏、單簧管重奏、弦樂團、混合重奏等演奏。

“BaoLeng Ditty” is a folk tune from Chengwu County, Shandong. It is originated from the local tune during t he temple ceremony take place. Each line of lyric ends with the phrase BaoLeng, which means to connect closely thus called BaoLeng Ditty. The tune was once lost as the ceremony vanishes. It was revived only until the local elder JinYing Zhou sing the tune to musicologists, the tune was successfully preserved and carried forward. The flexible version is adapted by Japanese composer Soo Hyun Park, which can be played by various numbers of players and instrumentation.

The flexible version is suitable for small ensembles, brass quintets, woodwind quintets, saxophone ensembles, clarinet ensembles, string ensembles, mixed ensembles, and so on.
