Rhapsody on a Theme of Taiwan Opera The Theme of this work,” Rhapsody on a Theme of Taiwan Opera”, which is one of the song of Taiwan Opera, belong to New Songs﹝新調﹞, named Chuang-Uian-Lou﹝狀元樓﹞or Ching-Kau-Chuong﹝慶高中﹞. In 60’s, by the TV’s popularization, the Taiwan Operas were introuded to everyone. So, a lot of songs were written by composers that time, cooperating the need in any kinds of the plots of the operas. In order to distinguish the ancient songs, we called these songs” New Songs”. This work was separated into three parts: they are” Allegro”─”Moderato”─”Vivace”. In the First part, I used the same patterns to accompany the melody, and using some technics such as Repetition, Diminution, and Sequence, etc. to recreate the theme. In the Second part, I would like this part festival-like, and you will hear the theme clearly,it performed in all kinds of ways. The Final part is intense. The Theme was separated again, but it is absolutely different from the first part. Besides, I also wrote the solo part for Timpani, and Tom-Tom showing their cool performing. Although this work is tonality, I made some different sounds in harmonic. And in the percussion parts, I tried to use Congas and Tom-Toms making different style and show any possibility of this traditional song. I deeply wish everyone will enjoy the joyfulness of the song.
