嘎達梅林原為二十世紀初期,蒙古族對抗政府不當屯墾之民族英雄,為保護蒙古牧民之利益,免於土地大面積沙漠化,而組織起義,領導軍隊驅逐政府屯墾單位,後來以蒙古族同名民歌流傳於世,歌詞頌讚嘎達梅林為了蒙古人民的土地利益而奔波。民歌旋律婉轉,音樂風格時而堅毅不屈,描繪出草原風情與英雄氣概;室內管樂團版本由日本作曲家下田和輝改編,以單純而清晰之配器,完整呈現出民歌原曲大器而沉穩的音樂風格。
Gada Meiren was a Mongolian tribal hero in the early twentieth century. He organized militia to fight against the cultivation bureau of central government, whose intrusion had caused the land desertification thus violated the interest of local nomadic residence. The hero’s name was later remembered with the folk song praising his legend. The melody reveals the courageousness and perseverance, portraying the heroic atmosphere and the wild landscape of grassland. The grade 1.5 concert band version is arranged by Japanese composer Kazuki Shimoda. The orchestration is clear and brief, fully preserved the grandeur and steady music style of original folk song.
