Gada Meiren was a Mongolian tribal hero in the early twentieth century. He organized militia to fight against the cultivation bureau of central government, whose intrusion had caused the land desertification thus violated the interest of local nomadic residence. The hero’s name was later remembered with the folk song praising his legend. The melody reveals the courageousness and perseverance, portraying the heroic atmosphere and the wild landscape of grassland. The flexible band version is arranged by Japanese composer Kazuki Shimoda. The orchestration is clear and brief, fully preserved the grandeur and steady music style of original folk song.
The flexible version is suitable for small ensembles, brass quintets, woodwind quintets, saxophone ensembles, clarinet ensembles, string ensembles, mixed ensembles, and so on.
