Tuberose is composed by a famous China musician in 1940’s, Lee Jing-Gwang. He has composed more than 200 popular songs in his life, and “Tuberose” is the most popular among all the songs. At one night in 1944, Lee was touched by the beautiful scenes outside his house, then he composed this song “Tuberose.” After he composed this song, he invited some famous singers such as Zhou Xuan, Gong ChiuXia and Yao Li to tryout for performance. Due to the wide music register of this song, it was quite hard to perform. So most of the well-known female singers were not interested in this song, until there was a new singer named Xiang-Lan Lee, who had just begun to receive her reputation in China film and music industry, found this song. Then the song was first sung by her.
