“Happy Sunrise” is composed by Gu Jing in 1942. The composition notion is originated from Sichau folk tune. The lyric describes the life of a wood chopper, portraying the joy mood of working, revealing the amusing life in the mountain. It was first recorded by tenor Shao-Hsu Tsai, professor of Shanghai Conservatory of Music. The arrangement is made by Japanese composer Hiko Hatano. The slow passage of introduction brought out the mysterious atmosphere, as if in the valley. Then the instrumentation thickened gradually with the acceleration of tempo. Through the vivid rhythm of percussion, the merriness is brought into the music.
