“Hao Hua Hong” is originally a folk tune from Bouyei people in Huishui, Guizhou, which can be traced back to Qing dynasty. The lyric describes the red flowers blossom among the mountain with metaphor of the desire for love. The melody is gentle and beautiful. The flexible band version is adapted by Japanese composer Louis Kihara.

The flexible version is suitable for small ensembles, brass quintets, woodwind quintets, saxophone ensembles, clarinet ensembles, string ensembles, mixed ensembles, and so on.
