“Folk Songs Flow Like Spring River” originated from 1960 Chinese movie score “Liu Sanjie” or “Third Sister Liu,” which is composed by renowned composer ZhenBang Lei. The plot is about a heroine singer who fought against the landlord with wisdom and songs. The shooting of the film had taken numerous scene from actual landscape of GuanXi, which is considered to be the first scenery musical movie; it has a significance by causing a hit after released in Mandarin-speaking market. The version is adapted by Japanese composer Mikuni Kohei into flexible band.
The flexible version is suitable for small ensembles, brass quintets, woodwind quintets, saxophone ensembles, clarinet ensembles, string ensembles, mixed ensembles, and so on.
