《山歌好比春江水》出自1960年中國大陸電影《劉三姐》配樂，作曲者為中國著名電影音樂作曲家雷振邦，故事情節講述廣西女傑歌仙劉三姐為了抵抗地主的暴虐，以民歌詠唱與地主鬥智鬥勇。片中大量取用廣西山水實景，是中國大陸第一部風光音樂故事片，上映後在華語地區產生轟動，獲獎無數，有其時代意義。
此版本由日本作曲家三國浩平改編為靈活編制樂團，可供演奏者任意選擇五聲部與打擊樂器演奏。

靈活編制版本適用於小型管樂團、銅管五重奏、木管五重奏、薩克斯風重奏、單簧管重奏、弦樂團、混合重奏等演奏。

“Folk Songs Flow Like Spring River” originated from 1960 Chinese movie score “Liu Sanjie” or “Third Sister Liu,” which is composed by renowned composer ZhenBang Lei. The plot is about a heroine singer who fought against the landlord with wisdom and songs. The shooting of the film had taken numerous scene from actual landscape of GuanXi, which is considered to be the first scenery musical movie; it has a significance by causing a hit after released in Mandarin-speaking market. The version is adapted by Japanese composer Mikuni Kohei into flexible band.

The flexible version is suitable for small ensembles, brass quintets, woodwind quintets, saxophone ensembles, clarinet ensembles, string ensembles, mixed ensembles, and so on.
