“Missing You” is originated from Shaanxi. The song is one of the most iconic Jin dialect folk tune. Usually sung by a man and a woman, the song reveals the simple romance among men and women in poverty. The time signature matches with the text with 3/4. With the unique tones of Jin language that fits the appoggiatura in the melody, the song is full of Shaanxi flavor. The flexible version is adapted by Japanese composer Hideaki Miura, which can be played by desired 5 instruments and sections of players’ choice.
The flexible version is suitable for small ensembles, brass quintets, woodwind quintets, saxophone ensembles, clarinet ensembles, string ensembles, mixed ensembles, and so on.
