The piece is originally Chinese pop music,
renowned since the 1960s. The melody of the song
comes from Indonesian folklore. The lyrics are elegant
and profound. During the ’70s, the Filipino musician
San Pedro in Taiwan adapted the song into big band
version, later revised by wind arranger Shuang-Liang
Hsu. The transcription emphasizes the changing of
distinctive timbre and the flourishing colors of different
wind instruments, thus intertwining into a beautiful
movement.
