《看秧歌》源自山西音中地區的太谷秧歌,晉中地區昏史悠久,文化底蘊深厚,秧歌作焉當地重要的民間兿術形式,反映了勞動人民的生活、情感與習俗。此曲描述了一對姐妹結伴到鄰村看秧歌,姐姐鼓勵妹妹不要害怕天氣變化,即便颳風下雨也要去瞧一瞧 。隨後姐妹二人精心打扮,一路上,她們欣賞着山水相連的好風光,展現了北方農村的生活風貌和人們對秧歌這一傳統民俗活動的熱愛。
樂曲采用“活潑的快板”(Allegro vivo)的速度進行,前奏部分4/4與3/4拍節拍的變换與一段打撃樂獨奏渲染了秧歌中熱鬧非凡的場景,同時也體現了秧歌劇中節奏的重要地位。后采用短笛引入主題旋律部分,樂曲主題旋律線條清晰,使用單簧管,薩克斯、小號等樂器多次重複旋律,層層遞進,生動地刻畫出姐妹俩歡快、急切的心情以及對秧歌的期待之情。
“Watching Yangge” originates from Taigu Yangge in Yinzhong, Shanxi—a region with a long history and rich cultural heritage. As a key folk art, Yangge reflects working-class life, emotions, and customs. The piece depicts two sisters journeying to a neighboring village to watch Yangge, with the elder encouraging the younger to brave potential storms. Their meticulous preparation and joyful appreciation of landscapes along the way showcase rural northern life and passion for this tradition.
