Shennung’s daughter, Nuwa, is a girl who has righteous character. One day, she met Dragon King’s son was bullying children. Nuwa intervened the dispute, and she calm down the disturbance in a short time. However, Dragon King’s son held a grudge for this. Once Nuwa went to play at the East China Sea, strong winds and waves broke out, Nuwa was devoured into the ocean. Nuwa became Jingwei, a mythical bird unreluctantly after death. She vowed to fill up the ocean with branches and gravels to show her strong willing of resisting.
The beginning of the piece emerged the vast seascape, but crisis is also hiding. The following wild allegro which begins at F section shows the fight of both sides. The rapid tempo and strong percussion phrase act like the attacked storm. At last, all parts stop at M section, Nuwa faded out in wild waves.
After the tranquil, the music emerges again in Shennung’s sub, especially the phrase leading by wood winds was full of sadness. Jingwei sends the brunches and gravels back and forth with the will of revenge, which shows the resistance and enthusiasm of life. With the theme of ostinato, the music ends in a bright atmosphere.
