‘Red Bean’ is one of the most celebrated pieces sung by Chinese singer-songwriter Faye Wong. The composition idea emerged when lyricist Albert Leung saw a scene from a Japanese TV series occasionally that the actress was distracted by romance in her mind, and accidentally overcooked the red bean. Red bean obscurely symbolized the romance with implicit emotion, forming a delicate atmosphere of the song. The version is adapted to concert band by Hong Kong composer Yuen-hing Yau.
