《太湖船》是一首中國明清小曲，後來傳到日本叫做「清樂」，再從日本傳到台灣，因此才會有日語歌詞和台語歌詞。而近代日本音樂課本，在介紹中國民歌時，許多出版社也都把《太湖船》列入其中。

「天黑黑」是台灣老老少少皆會吟唱的歌謠。曲調輕快愉悅，歌詞詼諧風趣，天黑黑」的素材來源，應是一種極為普遍的順口童謠，後來經過專家的整理後，成為令人喜愛的歌曲，加上許多演唱者的傳唱和媒體的傳播，十幾年來，天黑黑已經成為大家心目中的台灣民謠了。

《雨夜花》這首歌曲最初叫《春天》，原本是日治時期的台灣新文學健將廖漢臣在1933年為台灣兒童所寫的一首兒歌，交由鄧雨賢譜曲
週添旺將《春天》的旋律，改填悲涼的歌詞《雨夜花》，也許是因為與時代背景、人民心聲相對映吧？這首歌謠竟然影響後來台語歌曲以無奈、哀怨為主體的創作方向。感人肺腑扣人心弦的《雨夜花》，歌詞中所描述的「雨」、「夜」、「花」後來也變成台語流行歌曲重要的主題意象，影響台語歌詞的創作。
