“Orchid Flower”is originated from Northern Shaanxi. The local folk song genre is also known as Xintianyou, which often describes the romance between couples with heroic and bold spirit. The original melody can be traced back to Ming and Qing Dynasty according to the text appeared. The text with rough and earthy tone portrayed the complicated love story from the local. The concert band version is adapted by Japanese composer Kohei Mikuni, who uses a modern concert band composition idea to add flavor to the ancient tune.
