‘When Drums Beat’ was originally composed by Taiwanese singer-songwriter Bobby Chen, is a piece of Taiwanese pop music with Cha-cha style of Latin music. The composition demonstrated totally different features from other local pop music by introducing vicissitudes and decadent flavor, presenting a refreshing idea. Solo passages with rhythmic feeling rotated on various instruments in the adaptation. The version was adapted to concert band by Japanese composer Hiko Hatano.
