「望夫石」位於澎湖七美，為海邊一塊躺臥婦人造型的玄武岩，傳說身懷六甲的婦人到海邊等待出海捕魚的丈夫歸來，然而漁夫遲遲未歸，婦人原地等候至天荒地老，遂倒下成為一塊巨石。
作曲家三澤慶（Kei Misawa）以傳說中的夫妻之情作為發想主軸，加入各種身歷其境的島嶼風光，透過其一貫明亮的創作手法，賦予作品充滿陽光的色彩，與帶有高度浪漫性格的旋律、和聲，並從創作素材中，表現出屬於海洋民族獨有的樂觀調性。全曲結構工整，分為序奏 – 快 – 慢 – 快。Wangfu Rock (meaning expecting husband), located in Cimei, Penghu, is a giant piece of basalt with a shape similar to a lying woman by the ocean. The legend has it that a woman was waiting her fisherman husband and couldn’t expect his returning so that she waited until the end of her life, fell and became a rock.
Based on the legend, the Japanese composer Kei Misawa composed the piece with vivid experience of island landscape. Through the bright and joyful atmosphere, the music is created with highly romanticized melodies and chords. The optimistic tone of ocean is presented. The structure of the music is divided into Adagio molto sostenuto – Allegro moderato con brio – Andante molto sostenuto – Allegro vivace.
