“Moonlight in Town” is composed by Singaporean music producer Tan Kah Beng. The original version is sung by Mavis Hee, recorded in her second personal album “Regret”. The text reveals the endless nostalgia towards the lover far away. Through the confession to the moon, hoping the lover’s heart can be warmed under the reflection of the moonlight. The balladic melody contains a strong emotion, which makes the song become a huge hit. The version is adapted by Japanese composer Kato Daiki into ensemble score consists of five parts flexible instrumentation plus percussion.
The flexible version is suitable for small ensembles, brass quintets, woodwind quintets, saxophone ensembles, clarinet ensembles, string ensembles, mixed ensembles, and so on.
