“All my loving Folks” – a commissioned work composed under request from Mr. Huang Chien-nang, Artistic Director of the 7th Taiwan International Music Festival. The idea of the work based on ethnic Taiwanese mood. The first section, ‘Song of the Earth’, was inspired by the simple tunes from different local aborigines, composed with identical melodic lines representing each individual tribe but perform together in the same pace, symbolizing a harmonious mix of different tribes. The second section, ‘Che-ling Dance’ describes the movement of ‘Che-ling’, an ethnic play which is very popular in Taiwan. The composer realized the movement into music and made this music for such dance. 3 strikes on the bell recognized the end of the dance, followed by a short Horn call to re-capture the serenity of the tribe lives.
