Purple Bamboo Tune is a traditional Wu language folk tune at southern Yangtzu River area. The song was at first a piece from Shanghai opera, whilst the actor is making Tofu, holding two bamboo sticks attaching a layer of gauze to filtrate the soya thus called “Purple Bamboo Tune”. The music atmosphere deeply reflects the elegance and beautiful scenery of southern area. The version is adapted by Japanese composer Kohei Mikuni into concert band. The arrangement with lively style is faithful to the original tune.
