《繡荷包》為山西民歌，歌詞可追溯至清代中葉，在中國各地民歌之中，都能見到各種版本的繡荷包小調，因循不同的風土民情而使旋律有所不同。此一山西流傳的繡荷包小調，音階具有北方音樂的特徵，此版本由日本作曲家金山徹改編為靈活編制樂團演奏，根據旋律中獨特的半音變化，發展成為貫穿全曲的動機，充滿編曲巧思。繡荷包為民間女紅，婦人透過刺繡，將各種思慕憐情畫作或繁或簡的圖案化作荷包上的裝飾，在刺繡的同時低聲吟唱，遂成為婉轉動人的各式繡荷包小調。

靈活編制版本適用於小型管樂團、銅管五重奏、木管五重奏、薩克斯風重奏、單簧管重奏、弦樂團、混合重奏等演奏。

“Purse Embroider” is originated from Shanxi. The text can be traced back to the mid Qing Dynasty. The text can be seen in various tunes from all over the place in China. This Shanxi version includes the unique northern China mode. The flexible band version is adapted by Japanese composer Tohru Kanayama uses the chromatic feature of original melody to develop into the leitmotiv. Purse embroider is the traditional artwork of women. The embroidering portrays female romanticism through patterns and decorations. Workers often sing along while embroidering later became various tunes.

The flexible version is suitable for small ensembles, brass quintets, woodwind quintets, saxophone ensembles, clarinet ensembles, string ensembles, mixed ensembles, and so on.
