《西部主題暢想曲》是由周望女士和黄枕宇先生于2005年共同创作的一首具有新疆特色的古筝独奏曲，它酣畅淋漓的表现了西部的人文风情和地貌特征.该作品取材于新疆维吾尔族音乐，全曲具有典型的风格，舞蹈性旋律和歌唱性旋律穿插进行，創作緊緊圍繞“暢想”這一主題，全曲有比較激烈的旋律線，在音階構成上凸顯出了濃郁的新疆音樂的風格，具有很強的表演性。三浦秀秋的交響管樂團版本，充分掌握了木管、銅管、打擊樂器特有的音色與演奏法，開始由上低音號、單簧管緩緩引出充滿西域風格的主題旋律，快板部分的旋律，加上靈活多變的節奏、速度與音域，時而柔婉細膩，時而粗曠豪放，表現出新疆人民能歌善舞的性格特點，將原曲充滿濃郁的西部風格特質，表露無疑，是一部能展現交響管樂團色彩與民族特色的傑出作品，無論是音樂會或比賽使用，皆能獲得相當好的效果。

管樂團精簡版（6分40秒）“The Western Theme Fantasia” is a guzheng solo piece with Xinjiang characteristics, co-composed by Ms. Zhou Wang and Mr. Huang Zhenyu in 2005. It vividly portrays the humanistic customs and geographical features of the western region. This composition draws inspiration from Xinjiang Uyghur music, showcasing a typical style with interweaving dance-like and singing-like melodies. The composition revolves around the theme of “fantasy,” featuring intense melodic lines that highlight the rich style of Xinjiang music through its scale composition, exhibiting strong performative qualities. In the symphony orchestra version by Hideaki Miura, the unique tonal qualities and playing techniques of woodwinds, brass, and percussion instruments are fully utilized. The piece begins with the deep tones of the tuba and the slow introduction of the theme melody by the clarinet, evoking a distinct Western-style atmosphere. The fast section of the composition, with its flexible and varied rhythms, tempos, and pitch range, alternates between graceful and delicate and rough and bold, showcasing the character of the Xinjiang people’s singing and dancing abilities. This outstanding work fully embodies the rich Western-style characteristics and ethnic features, making it suitable for both concerts and competitions, where it can achieve remarkable results.
