“BaoLeng Ditty” is a folk tune from Chengwu
County, Shandong. It is originated from the local tune
during the temple ceremony take place. Each line o f
lyric ends with the phrase BaoLeng, which means to
connect closely thus called BaoLeng Ditty. The tune
was once lost as the ceremony vanishes. It was
revived only until the local elder JinYing Zhou sing the
tune to musicologists, the tune was successfull y
preserved and carried forward. The concert band
version is adapted by Japanese composer Soo Hyun
Park.
